Middle summer. Is soon over. I was one of those few people who didn't drink any alcohol yesterday. Boring ones.

All about cards
Thursday June 15th, 2006 19:41
All supermarkets in Finland have these so called "benefit cards". If you have that plastic card you get things with lower price, more advertisements straight to your mail box (not email, snail mail) and better life (and in some cases you can use their bathroom). And every time you go to a supermarket and you're paying, check-out person asks "You got ***** card?". They never remember if I have it or not even though I've told them 10 times before "No". And sometimes I can see on their faces that they remember but they have to ask anyway because somebody has said they gotta do that.
And there's nothing I can do about it. I planned to print a t-shirt with text "No, I don't have your stupid card and I'm never gonna get one either!" But I think it wouldn't help.
I also have five library cards, ID card, driver's license, bank card, bus card, phone card, copy card.... and some other cards... It's a deck of cards really. But I don't know which one is the trump card. If there even is one. I've never won anything.

Rainy or snowy

In Finland people say that our summer is winter with less snow. Or something like that. It's...true. Now: +10,3c. Also smart people say that nobody should speak about the weather because it's SO boring. But what would all those high educated meteorologists say?
Weather is NOT boring and this post is going to be ALL ABOUT THE WEATHER! HAH!! And I don't even care if nobody reads this. Ever.
We have four seasons in Finland. My favorite is spring because then I can see the sun more often. My physical and psychic health increases so much (vitamin D and light make a big difference). But then becomes June. The first so-called summer month. People begin their summer holidays etc. But as fas as I remember, Junes are RAINY. And somewhat cold. Ok. Especially this June. I don't really like it. May is so much better. And April. But plants are green in June, really bright green and apple trees look beautiful.
Summer = July, August. July is the best. It's not too bright outside anymore (like it's in June, 24/7.... ) but it's usually warm. Even +25-30c. And that's a lot. In fact, July is our summer. That's it. One month. (That's why we are suicidal and depressive here in the north. My opinion is that government should sponsor all citizens 1-2 month trip to south every winter. We wouldn't need so much health care then. Nobody would fell down on ice, wouldn't make a suicide attempt that takes that person only to hospital etc.) The highest temperature ever was +35c, July 9th 1914. Loooong time ago (I checked this info here ). We have approx only 10-15 days in summer when the max temp is over +25c.
Then. Fall. During last 2 years (or so) we've had high temperatures (high for Finns, around +20c) also in the beginning of September. It's weird. But then we haven't had snow (so that you can actually see it on the ground) until in December. It's just clody, rainy and dark during those three months. F***.
Winter? Uhhuh. Last winter began here in the south...ummmmhh... week or two before Xmas. I consider winter = snow and cold (at least -5c ... -10c). Meteorologists have totally different definition for winter. But you can't feel the difference between fall and winter if there isn't snow and cold. January and February are real winter months. The worst thing to happen in January is when temperature climbs over +0. Snow becomes not just water but shit that wets clothes. Rather -25c then. In December I don't see the sun at all because when outside is bright... I'm working or at school. That's why I'm addicted to all kind of lamps. Ceiling lamps, wall lamps, lave lamps. Anything goes as long as it creates light. I burn many candles during winter time.
Not any season. End of March. It's like July, middle September or November. It's nothing. It's not warm yet but not so much snow either. Days are getting longer though and that's nice. So, summarizing all this nonsense: in Finland the best time is when any season is having the most typical things that belong to that season. Very cold winter, very hot summer, very sunny Spring or very windy and rainy fall.
I knew I wasn't meant to born in Finland. I hate most days. North sucks (yes I appreciate that we have more water than we need etc.) . I need sunshine....
I deeply understand indians who used to worship the sun. Could someone teach me their sun dance? Maybe that would help.
